Amazingly, most men don’t know how to use a cock ring correctly. A cock ring is used to keep the penis engorged to sustain an erection longer. Some men love them, some men hate them. To clarify, a cock ring is material that is put around the base of the penis and scrotum. It can be a stainless steel ring, a short leather or nylon strip (with holes for tightening like a belt, or Velcro), a ring of rubber, or a shoelace! Start with the penis and balls soft and loose. Trying to get a cock ring over an erect penis is almost impossible unless you use the Velcro or fastening type. Pull the penis and scrotum through the ring. Here’s where the mistake is made. Many men assume the ring fits around the base of the penis only. Wrong. It must hold both the penis and the scrotum to be effective. As you get hard, you will feel the pressure. It’s hot! Be forewarned: 1. It will make your penis look shorter because the scrotum is pushed up onto the shaft, and 2. if you use the solid ring, you have to wait until you get soft to take it off. That can sometimes be painful, as the blood drains slowly after ejaculation because of the tourniquet effect of the ring. I recommend that men use the easily detachable types (Velcro) for that reason. The stories of men calling 911 to have a cock ring removed are true, but few and far between. Most men, particularly men over 50, will never visit the emergency to remove a cock ring.
